About Sang Kee Peking Duck
Sang Kee Peking Duck is a chinese restaurant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is listed at Reading Terminal Market, 51 N 12th St, Philadelphia, PA 19107, which places it among the local businesses of Philadelphia that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 8 amβ6 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Philadelphia peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

So good but so confusing. you just kind of walk up to the counter and wait for someone to ask you what you want. Had to get some duck while I was walking around the market. Went with the duck with dumplings and noodles and the big spring roll. Just order the normal ones and don't be extra like me. It wasn't worth the extra time. There really isn't any eating there, so we walked around to the sitting area. Also wish they had togo bowls instead of soup containers. Made eating something with bones a little difficult. I powered through. The duck was juicy, the dumplings plump, noodles tender and the broth flavorful. Pretty cheap for all that you get too.

Roast pork and duck combo was pretty good, pork was flavorful and we liked the baby bok choy veg. Duck was mostly bones though, which was not cool. Wonton soup was good with meaty wontons, broth not a lot of flavor. Bourbon chicken was decent, nothing to get excited over.

Disappointing experience with this Sang Kee location. Ordered roasted duck and roasted pork rice $16 is mediocre at best. The roasted pork seems like left over from previous day where at meat is dry and overcooked or over reheating. There is no in house soy with only package soy smh. The duck is okay but lack flavor. Lastly the container given is chipped off at several locations so the lid does not close right. SMH. At this point the value is no longer worth while since the high paying price does not equate the quality. Of all the locations of Sang Kee, the wynwood location is by far the best. But if you are in the center city please donβt waste your money, calories and time for this location. Better off walking down the street to other locations like Lau Kee, Tian Wong etc or walk further to the original Sang Kee. Would not recommend this location.

We came during rush hour in the holiday season so the food court was very crowded. Chatsiu was okay while the duck was the best roast duck I have ever had in the United States. It came warm, juicy and flavorful that we decided to grab another round after the first one. Caution: this is Cantonese style roast duck, not Peking duck, they are different so maybe the product is good but not up to your expectations.

While at Reading Terminal Market, I came across an article by Visit Philly listing 15 must-try itemsβand #12 was the two-meat platter from Sang Kee, with roast pork and duck over soup noodles instead of sticky rice. I decided to give it a shot, and wowβwhat a fantastic recommendation. For about $17, it was absolutely worth it. The roast duck was rich and flavorful, the pork was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the broth tied everything together beautifully. It was downright delicious. If you're at Reading Terminal and craving something savory and satisfying, this is a must-try. Iβll definitely be back.
